Privacy
Using a site like this one doesn’t need to be complicated, and neither should knowing what happens with a bit of information about you. Here’s the short version first, with the full story underneath.
In short
- Comments are read by me before they appear. I see the display name, the email on your account, and which page you commented on.
- Notifications live on the site only—no marketing email ever.
- Account deletion is handled by emailing me. I’ll remove the account and its comments.
- Server logs (IP address, browser, pages visited) are kept for security and troubleshooting, not for profiling.
- Cookies are simple. No cookies at all unless you sign in. Signing in sets a session cookie and a small sign-in marker. No advertising or tracking cookies.
- Account data stored: display name, email, a hashed password, favorites, comments, and on-site notifications.
- Your data is never sold or shared with third-party advertising trackers.
Comments and moderation
Every comment on the site is moderated before it becomes visible to other readers. When you leave a comment, you’ll see it marked “awaiting moderation” right away, but nobody else will. During moderation I see the display name you chose, the email address tied to your account, and the program page where you left the comment. That’s it.
Notifications stay on the site
If you save a program to your favorites, the site can tell you when that program gets an update. That notification appears when you’re signed in—it doesn’t travel to your email inbox. There are no marketing emails, no newsletters, no “we miss you” notes. I believe in leaving you alone unless you’re right here on the site.
Deleting your account
If you’d ever like your account and comments removed, write to me at [email protected] from the email address on the account. I’ll delete the account, all associated comments, favorites, and notifications. No big exit survey, no delay tactics.
Server logs
Like most websites, the server keeps ordinary access logs: IP address, browser type, pages requested, and the time of the request. These help me chase down security issues, stop abuse, and figure out why something broke. They aren’t used to build a picture of who you are or where you’ve been. Logs are rotated out periodically and not shared with anyone.
Cookies
If you’re browsing without signing in, the site sets no cookies at all. When you sign in, the site sets two small cookies: one is a session cookie so the server remembers you’re signed in as you move between pages, and the other is a sign-in marker that keeps you signed in across visits if you check “remember me.” That’s the entire cookie story. No advertising cookies, no tracking pixels, no third-party scripts dropping things into your browser.
What your account holds
When you create an account, here’s what gets stored:
- Your chosen display name
- Your email address
- A hashed (scrambled) copy of your password—I cannot see the original
- Any programs you’ve saved to your favorites
- Comments you’ve submitted
- Notifications the site has generated for you
That is the full list. No purchase history, no location data, no inferred interests.
Changes to this policy
If anything here changes, I’ll note it clearly at the top of this page along with the date it took effect. The spirit won’t change: I run this site for weekend creators, and treating people’s information with care is part of that.
What never happens
To be absolutely plain: your data is never sold, rented, or traded. No third-party advertising trackers operate on this site. The only person who accesses what you share is me, Darnell, and only to keep the place running and the conversations helpful.
